DRAGONS DEN MARTIAL ART CENTER

Dragons Den Martial Arts Center and Supply is Calgary’s first and only full spectrum Martial Arts Center. Owners Kathleen Greenan and Donald Boswell have filled a niche which offers a wide variety of programs reaching the specific goals of today’s public.

The curriculum at Dragons Den offers instruction and supplies geared to a contemporary market: grappling, stand up, traditional, internal, weapons, esoteric, and more. In addition courses are tailored in specific ways to suit each group or individual. Whether you are looking for classes geared to children, women, the elderly, security and or the general public Dragon’s Den has the right program for you. In addition The Den also regularly facilitates seminars with high caliber instructors in specific areas of interest to the client base.

Involved in the Martial Arts in Calgary for over twenty five years Don and Kathleen were quite conscious of what was available and being offered in the local market. Aware of many superior level instructors within the industry that did not advertise on a commercial basis allowed for the opportunity for Dragon’s Den Martial Arts Centre to be realized; a unique training facility offering multi martial and fitness disciplines via top quality trainers.

Decidedly, it was time to unite these teachers and clients and open Dragons Den Martial Arts Center. A run down 6000 sq foot building in Inglewood was transformed after three months of extensive renovations. As a result Dragons Den Martial Arts Center opened its doors to become a one of a kind atmosphere in Calgary.

Dragons Den Martial Arts Center has the finest instructors in place to help you start reaching for your fitness and martial goals today. These goals may vary for each individual: implementing lifestyle changes, lose weight, self defense, increasing self image, elevate fitness levels, improving medical conditions, amongst a myriad of other desires. Now clients have immediate exposure and choices to diverse programs under one roof.

Customized Strength and Conditioning Services

Dragons Den offers customized strength and conditioning services to our client base via Natural High Fitness and Athletics / Okotoks. These services include: Biosignature Hormonal Analysis, Structural Balance, Postural Analysis, Flexibility Assessment, Aerobic Endurance Assessment, Body Composition Assessment, Individual Program Design, Personal Assessment, Program Design and Athletic Strength and Conditioning Programs.
Natural High Fitness and Athletics is owned by Mr. Andrew Gustafson BSC, ACSM, CEP, PICP level one, CHEK Exercise Coach, CHEK HLC level two.

Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed Martial Arts is a hybrid of today's most effective martial arts forms. It combines techniques in the standing range, the grappling range as well as the transition between the two. This intense work out is designed to produce a well rounded athlete familiar with punches, kicks, holds, submissions, locks and more. Join us on the mat today and train like a Champion.



Kids Martial Arts

Kid's classes at the Dragons Den are focused on fun. Techniques taught must be sensitive and appropriate for each specific group, in this case our children. An increase in body awareness as well as an improvements in focus are usually the first benefits parents describe back to us. Long term the benefits are of a wider scope: loss of weight, increased flexibility and cross over skills such as balance and timing soon improve. Ba Gua

Ba-Gua is a Chinese internal martial art that emphasizes continuous change based upon the principle of waxing and waning of Yin and Yang, and adopting the Ba Gua's arrangement of the eight trigrams. Ba Gua movements have a characteristic circular nature; inherent in the art are spinning, turning, and rapid changes of direction. The training in Ba Gua is designed to facilitate the practitioner controlling their momentum and timing in order to produce power with the entire body mass. In order to create whole body power the evasive footwork in Ba Gua emphasizes physical relaxation, skeletal alignment and natural movement done in conjunction with meditative practices.


Muay Thai

Muay Thai is the ancient combative art of the Kingdom of Siam which combines the feet, knees, elbows and hands into effective offensive and defensive weapons. It is a fast paced energetic work out designed to increase your fitness levels while learning a superior form of self defense. Study this traditional Martial Art form in a friendly and safe environment, start today!



Women's Kickboxing

Come learn all the Kickboxing techniques with your friends. A gender specific class designed to get you fit. Class will consist of cardio, pad hitting and partner training. Bust some stress, get in shape and kick some butt. Call for a free trial class.


Submission Grappling

This class helps students to learn the nuances and subtleties of this grappling sport. Learn arm bars, chokes, takedowns and more in a technical environment. Roll on the mat and be instructed how to submit your opponent: Submission Grappling has no striking, this class is coed.


Integrated Total Training

Integrated Total Training is a whole body conditioning workout that combines aspects of boxing, kickboxing, and MMA training, and merges them into a fitness program that is safe for the mainstream(sans sparring). Intensity is the trade mark of this class.



Chinese Military Martial Arts

The training is progressive with components from the authentic martial arts taught in the Chinese commandos/ Special Forces; Anti-riot teams; and the military bodyguard instructor’s unit of the Wu Jing (Special Military Police).

Tai Chi (Long Form)

Most of us are familiar with the modern interpretations of T’ai Chi. While promoted in the West primarily as a health exercise, it was originally developed in china as a martial art. Although most practitioners are not interested in the martial applications, the background knowledge this aspect provides is vital for understanding mechanical efficiency and deriving the maximum benefit from the exercise.
